Rainbow Ridge Ranch got its name from a rainbow that looked like it ended in the area of the ranch. One day while hiking on the old continental trail there was a summer squall. Tom and Gwen had to seek shelter in their small hiking tent, under a sprawling group of Aspen. After the squall, Gwen emerged to a light rain still underway, and in the rain, she saw a rainbow. Tom, delighted by his wife's reaction did his best to locate the location of the end of the rainbow.

Over the next few months, he searched the area for a property to buy. He wanted to surprise his new bride with a horse ranch. In the end, he just bought land that had streams and several ridges on it. He then hired a construction company and had Rainbow Ridge built, using his wife's dreams as a guide.

On their first anniversary, he drove her out to the sprawling facility. He mentioned they could tour the brand-new ranch being built in the area. She was clueless about the owner of the property.

She was enthralled as they toured the unfurnished house, sprawling pastures filled with cattle, and the two state-of-the-art barns. She noticed that there were no horses in the stalls and then recalled the empty house. With a discerning eye, she looked at her beloved.

"Who owns this place?" She asked with a skipping heart and butterflies in her stomach.

"Why you do, my dear." Came the simple answer.

Gwen squealed loudly at the proclamation and threw her arms around him. After she spent several minutes running from place to place in excitement she looked at him again.

"What's it called?" She asked curiously. Every big ranch needed a memorable name.

"Rainbow Ridge," He told her, "Because near as I could figure, this is where your rainbow ended."

"Perfection," She smiled and sighed happily. They lived and loved at the ranch for the rest of their lives. Raising a child and many generations of Quarter Horses. When Owen, their son was grown and married, they decided to move into the smaller mother-in-law suite and let the brand new couple live in the big house, much as they had done for many years.
